1. Information We Collect
- Inquiry & Scheduling Data: Name, email, job title, company (via contact forms or Google Calendar scheduling) — only for responding to inquiries and coordinating engagements.
- Website Analytics: We use a lightweight, self-hosted analytics system to measure aggregate traffic patterns, page performance, and user behavior across our sites. This system collects pages visited, time on page, scroll depth, referring source, device type, and general geographic region (city and state, derived from your IP address using MaxMind GeoLite2). Your IP address is cryptographically hashed and never stored in raw form. No cookies are set by our analytics — sessions are identified using a temporary, randomly generated token stored in your browser’s session storage that is automatically cleared when you close your tab. No visitor data is transmitted to third parties. We do not use this system to identify individual visitors or build user profiles.
- LinkedIn Insight Tag: We use the LinkedIn Insight Tag (a tracking pixel) to measure the reach and performance of our content. It collects aggregate data on job title, industry, and seniority for users logged into LinkedIn. No individual-level LinkedIn profile data is shared with us.
- Website Logs: IP address, browser type, and timestamps are retained by our hosting provider for security and operational purposes. We do not independently collect or analyze raw server logs.
- Communications: Emails and messages are retained indefinitely for ongoing business records and response tracking.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use the following technologies that set cookies or tracking pixels:
- Self-Hosted Analytics: Our analytics system uses browser session storage (not cookies) to associate pageviews within a single browsing session. Session storage is automatically cleared when you close the browser tab. No persistent identifiers are set, and no data is shared with third parties.
- LinkedIn Insight Tag: A tracking pixel that enables LinkedIn to provide us with aggregate analytics about our content reach among LinkedIn members. Subject to LinkedIn’s Privacy Policy. LinkedIn members may opt out through LinkedIn’s opt-out settings.
- Google Calendar: Our scheduling page is hosted by Google, which may set session cookies. Subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or cross-site profiling. No data collected through these technologies is sold or shared with third parties beyond the service providers identified above.
Do Not Track Signals
We do not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals. Our self-hosted analytics and the LinkedIn Insight Tag (described above) are used for aggregate measurement only — not for behavioral advertising or cross-site tracking. You may use your browser’s built-in cookie controls or the opt-out links listed in the Cookies section to limit data collection.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Responding to inquiries, scheduling discovery calls, and coordinating engagements.
- Sending relevant follow-ups and ITSM insights (no unrelated marketing).
- Site security and basic maintenance.
We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making or profiling.
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share data only with:
- Trusted service providers (e.g., Google Workspace) under strict confidentiality obligations.
- Authorities when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
- Successors in a business transfer, with notice where possible.
Event Photos, Video & Attendance
We may take group photos or short videos at in-person events (including ITSM Insights Meetups) for our website and social media to promote our work. By attending, you consent to this unless you notify us in advance or at the event to exclude you. We will make reasonable efforts to honor such requests. Photos and videos are not sold and are used only for non-commercial, group promotional purposes. Attendees are responsible for their own interactions and sharing; we are not liable for what others do with information shared voluntarily at events.
4. Data Retention
Inquiry and scheduling data is kept for 12–24 months after last interaction, then deleted or anonymized. Email and business communications are retained indefinitely as part of ongoing business records. Website logs are managed by our hosting provider per their standard security retention practices.
5. Your Privacy Rights & Choices
You may request to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You may also opt out of future email communications, which will be honored promptly. We do not sell or share personal information, so no opt-out for that purpose is necessary — but you may request confirmation in writing.
California residents: CCPA/CPRA rights apply, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights. Requests are responded to within 45 days.
6. Security & Data Breach Notification
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Tideline Insights does not maintain proprietary databases of personal information. Communications are processed through Google Workspace and scheduling through Google Calendar, which means our direct breach exposure is extremely limited. In the unlikely event of a security incident involving your personal information, we will notify affected individuals and applicable authorities in accordance with applicable law and without undue delay.
7. Third-Party Services & International Transfers
Google services and any external links on our site follow their own privacy policies. Data may be processed in the United States or other countries. We apply appropriate safeguards where required.
8. Children’s Privacy
Our site and services are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have done so inadvertently, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
9. Business Contact Data
In the course of professional activities — including meetups, networking events, LinkedIn, and client engagements — we may collect and retain business contact information such as name, business email address, job title, and company. This information is used solely for legitimate business purposes, including follow-up communications, engagement coordination, and professional outreach relevant to ITSM consulting services. It is not used for personal marketing, sold to third parties, or shared beyond what is necessary for business operations. You may request removal of your business contact data at any time by contacting us directly.
10. Testimonials & Case Studies
With explicit permission, we may reference client outcomes, results, or feedback on our website or in marketing materials. Testimonials and case studies may include general descriptions of engagement results, industry type, or organization size. We will not identify any individual or organization by name without their prior written consent. Anonymized or aggregated outcome data (e.g., “a client achieved a 70% ticket reduction”) does not constitute personal information and may be used without attribution. If you have previously provided a testimonial and wish to have it removed, please contact us and we will honor your request promptly.
11. Limitation of Liability
This Privacy Policy is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute a contract or legal agreement between you and Tideline Insights. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Tideline Insights and its owner(s) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of this website, your attendance at events, or your reliance on this policy — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability for any claim arising under this policy shall not exceed the greater of $100 USD or the amount you paid to Tideline Insights in the three months preceding the claim. Nothing in this policy limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law. We recommend consulting qualified legal counsel for advice specific to your situation. This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Florida and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
12. Changes to This Policy
Updates will be posted here with a revised date and version number. Continued use of our site or services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
