What tracking technologies we use and how to manage them

Last updated: March 25, 2026 (v1.1) Effective date: March 24, 2026
Back to Tideline Insights We use cookies only for analytics and performance measurement.

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar tracking technologies Tideline Insights uses on tidelineinsights.com, why we use them, and how you can control them. We use tracking technologies only to understand how visitors use our site and to measure the reach of our content. We do not use cookies for behavioral advertising or to sell data to third parties.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — such as the pages you viewed and how long you stayed — and to measure aggregate traffic patterns. Similar technologies include pixels (tiny invisible images that trigger a request to a server), local storage, and session identifiers.

Cookies can be first-party (set by the site you’re visiting) or third-party (set by a service provider embedded on the site). They can be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (stored until they expire or you delete them).

2. Technologies We Use

Tideline Insights uses the following tracking technologies on this site:

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — Analytics Cookies: We use GA4 to measure aggregate traffic and understand how visitors interact with our site. GA4 sets persistent cookies on your device to track sessions across pages. Data collected includes pages visited, time on page, referring source, device type, and approximate geographic region. This data is pseudonymized; Google does not share individual-level data with us. Data is processed by Google LLC and subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag — Analytics Pixel: We use the LinkedIn Insight Tag, a JavaScript-based tracking pixel operated by LinkedIn Corporation. It collects aggregate data on job title, industry, and seniority for visitors who are logged into LinkedIn, which helps us understand the professional profile of our audience. No individual-level LinkedIn profile data is shared with us. LinkedIn processes this data per their Privacy Policy. LinkedIn may use this data for its own advertising purposes.
  • Matomo — Self-Hosted Analytics: We use Matomo, an open-source analytics platform hosted entirely on our own servers. Matomo collects pages visited, time on page, referring source, device type, and approximate geographic region. Because Matomo runs on our infrastructure, no visitor data is sent to or processed by any third party. Matomo sets first-party cookies (_pk_id, _pk_ses) to track sessions and unique visitors.
  • Tideline Analytics Beacon — First-Party Session Tracking: This site uses a lightweight first-party beacon that records page views and CTA click events against an anonymous session identifier stored in your browser’s sessionStorage. No personally identifiable information is collected. Session identifiers are not persistent across browser closes and are not shared with any third party.

We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or any technology designed to track you across unrelated websites for the purpose of showing you targeted ads.

4. How to Manage Cookies

You have several options for controlling cookies:

  • Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Instructions vary by browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge. Note: blocking all cookies may affect site functionality.
  • Google Analytics opt-out: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent GA4 from collecting data about your visits.
  • Matomo opt-out: Because Matomo is self-hosted, there is no third-party opt-out link. You can prevent Matomo from setting cookies by blocking cookies in your browser settings, or by using your browser’s private/incognito mode. Matomo data stays entirely on our servers.
  • LinkedIn opt-out: Opt out of LinkedIn’s use of the Insight Tag by visiting LinkedIn’s opt-out page. You can also manage LinkedIn privacy settings in your account under Settings & Privacy → Data Privacy → Manage your data and activity.
  • Industry opt-out tools: Use the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out or the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance tool to opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies.

Disabling the Tideline Analytics beacon is not currently supported via a UI control, but the beacon collects only anonymous session data and has no opt-out requirement under applicable privacy frameworks. If you have concerns, please contact us.

5. Do Not Track

Some browsers include a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. We acknowledge DNT signals but note that Google Analytics and the LinkedIn Insight Tag do not modify their behavior based on DNT browser settings. We do not use cookies for behavioral advertising, and DNT signals do not affect the analytics measurement described in this policy.

If you wish to prevent GA4 or LinkedIn tracking, use the specific opt-out tools listed in Section 4 above.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we change the tracking technologies we use. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
